The Mimbres Region Arts Council (MRAC), sponsor of the annual event, is a nonprofit organization dedicated to enriching the cultural life of southwestern New Mexico by providing quality programs that nurture and inspire a love and understanding of the arts.

MRAC, founded in 1981, has 500 members who support activities in the Visual Arts, Performance Arts, Arts & Culture Tours, and Kennedy Center Youth Programs in the Silver City and Cobre Schools. In April of 2005, MRAC received New Mexico's "Best Arts Council" award for the second year in a row for its achievements in the region and for its hard-working volunteer organization.
