Las Vegas

Northeast Region of New MexicoThere are many reasons to live in or visit Las Vegas and San Miguel County: clean air, outdoor recreation, access to quality health care, availability of education, respect for diversity, charming old-style houses nestled together, with newer neighborhoods where you can find classic modern homes, northern New Mexico architecture, two National Forests within minutes of downtown, and the feeling of small town America with a bit of an edge. Close to Santa Fe and Taos, it's the perfect center for an exciting vacation.

Las Vegas and the surrounding areas offer two separate institutions of higher education: New Mexico Highlands University and Luna Community College. We are also very fortunate to have The Armand Hammer United World College, which is a prestigious high school issuing an international secondary school diplomas. Achieve your educational goals at any of these fine institutions. For more information, visit any one of these great campuses.

This is an area that has been thriving for decades. Experience the quaint and charming shops within the Old-Town Historic District. This area provides many small home-town shops, antiques, book stores, coffee shops, etc. If you are looking for the convenience of one of the many large corporate and business chains, we offer you that as well. The Las Vegas area has all of the amenities of the big city with a small town experience.

Not only are there two National Forests within minutes of downtown Las Vegas, you may also enjoy visiting one of the many campgrounds along the Gallinas River. Enjoy the primitive scenes of nature, along with various forms of wildlife. Don’t feel like roughing it, but still want to experience the outdoors, visit one of the large lakes in the state – Storrie Lake State Park. Only a few miles from town, the lake offers tent and RV camping, as well as hiking, fishing, boating and other water sports.
