“... Roswell Hosts World’s Largest Annual Flag Football Tournament”

An estimated 25,000 players and spectators will once again gather over Memorial Day Weekend when flag-football teams from across the country battle it out on 25 fields at the Cielo Grande Recreation Area in Roswell in the 16th annual “Hike It & Spike It” Four-On-four Flag Football Tournament.

Not only is this world’s largest annual flag football tournament and a treat for the participants who battle it out on 39 fields at the Cielo Grande Recreation Area; it is a hoot for the spectators that descend on this Southeast New Mexico city.

Ceremonies get underway at 8 a.m., followed by games on all fields beginning at 8:30 a.m. and continuing non-stop throughout the day. The finals in all divisions, including “Show Me the Money,” are on Sunday.

Tour de Gila

For twenty-three years the Tour of the Gila has remained one of the States most challenging early season stage races and, like many events in 2009, was facing financial challenges. SRAM has enthusiastically taken over title sponsorship of the traditionally hilly five day stage race that begins this April 29 in Silver City, NM.
