Geronimo Trail Guest Ranch
At Geronimo Trail Guest Ranch we treat you like one of the family. Pitch
in all you want and help us feed and care for the horses, hone your roping
skills while you are waiting for dinner, or join us in other ranch chores.
Or, sit back and let us do all of the work. You will find solitude as well as adventure on your visit. This is a great opportunity to kick back and enjoy life on a different level.
Whether on horseback or in hiking boots, you will enjoy some of the
most beautiful, unspoiled country in America. Ride the outlaw trails
of Billy the Kid, Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid. Visit Native American
ruins which remain essentially untouched. Explore the canyons which sheltered
the Apache warrior Geronimo during his
campaigns in the late 1800's.
Our riding and hiking will take you through some gorgeous forests with tall Ponderosa pine trees, an abundance of wildlife, steep canyons with crystal clear rivers running through them, lush meadows (often with a herd of 200 elk!), and Native American dwellings and writings to explore. The trails start as close as our backdoor and we have millions of acres to discover. This is not nose to tail riding but a real western adventure. You won't find better riding anywhere!
We have very gentle, trustworthy horses that allow children and adults alike to build confidence in their riding skills and enjoy the magnificent scenery here on horseback. We have our own "rodeos" and can teach you to twirl and throw a lariat rope.
Besides horseback riding, we have a wide variety of family style indoor and outdoor games that we play. You will have a unique opportunity to discover the history of our region with a "hands on" approach as we hike and ride over the same trails as Geronimo and Billy the Kid. We have treasure and scavenger hunts appropriate for all ages where a group will follow a map and solve clues to find a real treasure. Along the way you will visit the border of Old Mexico, see Native American rock paintings, climb into dwellings over 1000 years old and hold actual pieces of Mimbrenos pottery in your hands.
Our cabins, which are nestled in the pines are large but cozy with fireplaces, queen sized beds (and bunkbeds), coffee maker, full bath/shower, reading chairs, magazines and books, snacks, table/chairs, covered porches, and a cookie jar filled with homemade goodies. Our cabins are comfortably furnished in a Native American style or a Cowboy motif, and you will have a cabin to yourself - we don't mix groups.
Our meals are taken in the dining room or outside on our picnic tables. Some of our popular dishes include grilled salmon with mango salsa, free range steaks, fresh granola, blueberry waffles with fruit, and cherries jubilee. We get many compliments on our fine dining and we can satisfy any dietary needs.
No lines or schedules here. Other activities that our guests enjoy are: big campfires at night with s' mores and some fantastic stargazing, barbecues, mountain biking, great fishing in our lakes and rivers, outdoor and indoor games, poker rides, treasure hunts, photography, horseback riding lessons or just reading a good book on one of our many bench swings.
