For the 4th consecutive year, the Lea County Commission for the Arts is partnering with the Hobbs Hispano Chamber of Commerce Foundation in presentation of the 2017 Hispanic Heritage Month Celebration. On Saturday, September 23rd from 3-5pm, the Lea County Commission for the Arts will present the National Institute of Flamenco’s, Yjastros, inside the Lea County Center for the Arts. Yjastros, composed of seasoned performers executing choreographies composed by acclaimed artist, Joaquin Encinias and today’s most influential Flamenco artists from around the world is the only true flamenco repertory company in the U.S. The highly refined performances will combine innovative dances with live musical and vocal accompaniment that will leave the Lea County audience in attendance spellbound. In addition to the professional flamenco performance, the Lea County Commission for the Arts will also present an opening performance by the Southern Heights Elementary 21st CCLC Ballet Folklorico dance program and National Institute of Flamenco guest artist residency. Admission is $5 at the door. The performances are free for all students under 18 and Southern Heights Elementary 21st CCLC parents. Door prizes will be raffled during intermission.
