The Lea County Commission for the Arts is now extending an invitation to all bands, musicians, dancers, poets, comedians and anyone else with a special talent to audition for the 2017 Hobbs Downtown Slam & Jam Talent Show. Auditions will be held in front of a judging panel at the Hobbs Teen Center, located at 602 W. Alto Dr. in Hobbs, NM on Saturday, March 25th from 2-4pm. Performers needing additional or special equipment must bring their own. Each performer will have up to 5 minutes to audition. Performance entry fees are $5 per act. Interested performers must contact LCCA by Friday, March 24th, 7pm (MST) to reserve an audition space. Performers will be notified by April 8th if selected to perform at the Hobbs Downtown Slam & Jam Talent Show. The official talent show will take place on Saturday, April 22nd on an outdoor stage between Dalmont and McKinley on Broadway Street in Hobbs during the 2017 Hobbs Downtown Slam & Jam (originally known as the Gus Macker tournament). The event will be free & open to the public. Selected performers will receive the opportunity to compete for both cash prizes and special gifts. Winners will also be presented with trophies live on stage at the conclusion of the judging.
