The Lea County Commission for the Arts will host its annual visual/performing summer art camps in Hobbs from May 31st- June 30th. Students will receive the opportunity to choose from classes, including painting, cartooning (drawing), sculpture, Hip hop dance and film animation. Grades range from K-12th. Animation classes will take place on the campus of the New Mexico Junior College’s, inside the Mary Hagelstein art building. All classes are $10 per class per day. All eligible students, interested in Hip hop dance and animation must be registered in advance for the entire week in order to participate. Healthy snacks will be provided for all visual art and animation classes. Scholarships are available on a first-come first-serve basis for need-based students. Registration for Hobbs visual art classes is ongoing. Please stop by the Center for the Arts to pick up a registration form and/or sign up for the summer art classes. Registrations are also available to be downloaded from the Center for the Arts website. The camps are sponsored by the Veteto Foundation, the Maciolek Schools of Dance, RMS Foods and McDonald’s.
