Jenny Roesel Ustick will be creating a mural on the UNM-Taos Klauer Campus in September using an image created by Taos artist Amy Cordova. She has generously offered to discuss her process and show photos of urban murals to a Taos audience. Ustick has implemented large-scale murals on walls of cities across the USA and in Italy and Argentina.
Ustick is an internationally renowned muralist, artist and educator. She received an MFA from University of Cincinnati; College of Design, Architecture, Art and Planning and a BFA from Art Academy of Cincinnati. She is currently Assistant Professor of Practice and Foundations Coordinator in the School of Art at the University of Cincinnati. Ustick's studio practice is based in drawing and painting while branching out into spatial and time-based work. Ustick is always looking for points of connection and overlay within her practice and for opportunities to collaborate on projects in a range of scale.
This presentation is co-sponsored by Taos Arts Council and UNM-Taos with the goal of starting a conversation about murals in Taos Historic District.
