The Before I Die NM Festival fosters reflection about how we address death and dying. It won't kill you to talk about it. With time and space to honestly discuss end-of-life issues, we can plan ahead and take action to address our 100% mortality rate. We're putting the "fun" in funeral planning! Today's Before I Die NM Festival events include a Before I Die symposium in the morning, held by the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute at the University of New Mexico. Speakers will address topics of death and dying, genealogy research, and pet loss issues. Gail Rubin, The Doyenne of Death®, will also present "The Funeral Director on Film." Afternoon events include a Mortuary Mall at Sunset Memorial Park for people to inspect and learn about funeral and cremation products and services, a panel of death doulas, a workshop on preparing advance medical directives, and a "Before I Die" wall for people to write out their aspirations. Attendees can enter a drawing to win valuable prizes such as burial plots, cremation niches, or a planning organizer. Visit www.BeforeIDieNM.com to see the full schedule online.
