Ute Lake State Park visitors enjoy fishing and camping at this park, and they’ll be treated to a three-day Chuck Wagon Cook-Off sponsored by the Canadian River Renegades, beginning on Friday, April 28-April 30th. Authentic Chuck Wagons will be traveling from Texas and Colorado to compete in this annual event. They will be judged on authenticity and the five food groups that they will be preparing on-site over open fires and Dutch ovens. The menu is chicken fried steaks, mashed potatoes, beans, biscuits, and fresh apple cobbler. They will also serve biscuits and gravy for breakfast on Sunday morning at 8:00 a.m. The Chuck Wagon Cook-Off will be held at the Cottonwood area. Gates will open and chuck wagons will start cooking early Saturday morning and delicious grub will be served at noon on Saturday, April 29, 2017. Tickets are $15 and can be purchased in advance from the Canadian River Renegades at 575-403-8320 or tickets will be on sale Saturday at the park. Although, folks are encouraged to buy tickets in advance; because this is one event that sells-out according to event coordinators. Canadian River Renegades, is a non-profit organization and proceeds from this event will go towards graduating seniors from Logan High School. For tickets or more information, contact Sharon Reid at 575-403-8320 or Ute Lake State Park at 575-487-2284. Regular park fees apply.
