The art-filled and popular Festival of the Cranes Arts & Crafts Fair will be held in the historic Garcia Opera House in Socorro, NM. New Mexico artists and crafters will show their exceptional and artistic works in jewelry, fiber arts, pottery, watercolors, photography, paintings, cards, hand-made beauty products, locally made prickly pear jellies, metal and wood craft, and other home and gift treasures. There will be 26 artists showing in the Fair. Come and shop for gifts for the holidays, birthdays, weddings, for yourself, for your home, and other occasions.
The atmosphere will be enhanced by a variety of live music performances by Socorro's talented musicians.
In addition to enjoying art, listening to music, and finding some excellent gifts, history and architecture buffs will have the opportunity to experience viewing the inside of the Garcia Opera House, which is listed on the national registry of historic sites. The adobe walls are 34 inches thick and are curved to add strength and acoustics to the building. The 40-foot wide interior space has an open-trussed roof system and hardwood floors. The "raked" stage, which takes up 1/3 of the space, is slanted from rear to front to give the audience a better view of a performance. The proscenium arch curves to both sides of the stage, is supported by fluted columns, and the panels are decorated with a blue and gold design.
The Festival of the Cranes Arts & Crafts Fair is co-sponsored by Socorro County Arts & the City of Socorro.
Come visit, enjoy, and buy New Mexico made arts and crafts.
