The InterPlanetary Festival is an annual event, free and open to the public, that combines an exploration of complexity science and technological innovation with a summer festival full of music, film, art, food, drinks, and more. The InterPlanetary Festival is completely conceived, curated, and executed by the Santa Fe Institute, whose science acts as the fuel and inspiration for the festival’s many facets.
The second annual InterPlanetary Festival's programming begins on Friday night with a screening of 1968's Planet of the Apes, specially introduced by J.W. Rinzler (author of The Making of Planet of the Apes). Join us again on Saturday and Sunday for more film screenings, our Main Stage panels on topics including "Health Futures", "Extremophile Cities", and "Building Life from Scratch", concerts by artists such as The Sticky and The Family Stone, a variety of local food and drink vendors, our new "Area 21" Beer Garden, art vendors and installations, and our Innovations and Ideas Expo.
