Please join us for a poetic walk along the bosque del Rio Grande followed by a reading by Albuquerque’s fourth (and newest) Poet Laureate, Michelle Otero. Otero is a tenth generation New Mexican. Her work has appeared in New Mexico Magazine, Brevity, Puerto del Sol, and other literary journals and she is the author of Malinche’s Daughter (essays). Otero is Creative Director of El Valle Encantado, an organization promoting sustainable development initiatives in Albuquerque’s Atrisco neighborhood. She holds a B.A. in History from Harvard and an M.F.A. in Creative Writing from Vermont College. Otero's community project, as Poet Laureate, is to increase our awareness of the health of the Rio Grande River and work toward her preservation by hosting walks along the river with local poets and poetry.  All are welcome for this very special night of poetry.
