Not all walks are in the woods! Historian Flavio Cisneros will lead our inaugural walk along this .6m route. Interpretive signage highlights sites and viewpoints, from 5000 years of Native history to rare geologic features that brought mining to the area and maintain ceremonial use by the Tewa. The recently-restored San Antonio de Padua church illustrates a culture of hand-made artistry in this remote area, and a culture of faith prior to church presence, visible in the remains of the oratorio. This tiny village is a microcosm of northern New Mexico history.
