Fireworks will light up the sky and music will fill the air on the Fourth of July as Roswell, NM celebrates America’s Independence Day with the Roswell SERTOMA Club’s Mike Satterfield Memorial Fireworks Extravaganza sponsored by the Roswell SERTOMA Club and the City of Roswell. The annual Fourth of July event at Cielo Grande Recreation Area (1600 block West College Boulevard) takes place from 6 to 10 p.m. thanks to the work of the SERTOMA Club – a local community service organization – with the assistance of The City of Roswell. The 30-minute fireworks display will begin about 9:15 p.m. and will feature patriotic music simulcast on HOT 97.1 FM. The free extravanganza gets underway at 6 p.m. with a kids zone, as well as local food vendors. At 6:15 p.m, the pre-fireworks happenings will begin with Rhythm Divine, a band set with traditional New Mexico music infused with rock n roll, blues, and country, and influenced by soul, funk and R&B. At 7:30 p.m., the festivities will be headlined by a performance by Billy Ray Cyrus who became a household name over the course of his career that spans across music, television and theater.
