A festival of flight, Summer Wings invites visitors to explore New Mexico's small but spectacular wildlife: Hummingbirds, butterflies, dragonflies, damselflies, and bees. $3.00 day-use fee per vehicle (or display a valid NM State Parks or Friends of the Rio Grande Nature Center annual permit). The day includes BioBlitz, a nature scavenger hunt: 8:15 AM Bioblitz bird walk 8:30 AM Weekend bird walk with Nature Center volunteers 9:00 AM Bugs and Birds walk for kids 10:30 AM Bee walk Noon Porcupines and Plants walk Near the Visitor Center 9-11 AM Hummingbird banding with certified hummingbird banders Talks in the Education Building 11 AM Bats with bat conservationists Justin Stevenson and Holly Smith 1 PM Bees with Olivia Messinger Carril 2 PM Dragonflies and Damselflies with Karen Gaines, UNM biologist At the Discovery Pond (Time to be announced) Aquatic macro-invertebrates and food webs 11 AM Dragonfly/damselfly catch and release
