While handwoven tapestries are an ancient art form that date back centuries, the Fuller Lodge Art Center will host an exhibition of contemporary tapestries woven by the members of the High Desert Tapestry Alliance and the Tapestry Artists of Las Arañas. Over 30 New Mexico artists will be on display in both the main gallery space and the Portal Gallery!

The exhibit will include tapestries based on National Parks and Monuments as well as a collaborative installation of small tapestries based on the 360 degree skyline of Ghost Ranch. There will be two and three dimensional tapestries in a variety of other themes featuring abstract and representational content. The materials used in these pieces range from wool and cotton to plastics and metals. Throughout the course of the exhibit, featured tapestry artists will be providing demos in the gallery.

Tapestry as Exploration and Innovation will run from Friday, June 29 to Saturday, July 28, 2018. There will be an opening reception on Friday, June 29 from 5:00 pm - 7:00 pm.
