The National Parks Conservation Association is pleased to sponsor the Santa Fe book launch of "Into the Great White Sands: Photographs by Craig Varjabedian" about the unique White Sands National Monument in southern New Mexico. Join photographer Craig Varjabedian and authors Jeanetta Calhoun Mish, Dennis Ditmanson and Jim Eckles for the presentation at 2 p.m. at the Jean Cocteau Theatre in Santa Fe. The authors will each do a reading from their essays and the photographer will share his motivations and stories behind the creation of the images, along with discussing how photography can be part of a broader conversation about history and public places. Ernie Atencio, New Mexico Program Manager for the National Parks Conservation Association, will speak about their mission and park protection work. The book signing will follow the presentation. Senator Martin Heinrich is currently seeking to re-designate White Sands as a national park, which would greatly benefit the local economy.
A portion of the proceeds from book sales will go to the NPCA. For information: "Into the Great White Sands," visit http://bit.ly/2E0ddFP; Craig Varjabedian, visit http://wwwcraigvarjabedian.com; and the National Parks Conservation Association, visit https://www.npca.org.
