Roberto Gonzales has been a staple of the local music scene for over 30 years. He began playing guitar in his teens and went on to study guitar at Highlands University in Las Vegas, New Mexico. After finishing his music education degree, he studied guitar privately with master Antonio Mendoza. He performed for over ten years with the late New Mexican flamenco guitarist Ruben Romero and rode the wave of Nouveau Flamenco in Santa Fe in the 90s started by Ottmar Leiberte. Roberto regularly performs solo in Santa Fe as well accompanying many well known local musicians; such as Jose Valle Chuscales, Joaquin Gallegos, and many other. His ability to interpret traditional Mexican, New Mexican, and Latin American Music, as well as perform classical, jazz, and bossa nova styles, allows him to interpret all these musical traditions through his overall flamenco-style approach to guitar.
