Bandelier National Monument is looking for volunteers to help with reforestation efforts in the Monument. On September 28 and 29 staff from Bandelier, the US Geological Survey, New Mexico State University, and volunteers through the Pajarito Environmental Education Center will plant over 18,000 Ponderosa and Douglas Fir seedlings in areas of the park affected by the Las Conchas fire of 2011. Join us for one or both days for this exciting opportunity to volunteer in one of New Mexico's National Park.
The group will meet at Ponderosa Campground and shuttle to the volunteer site. Depending on attendance, the meeting location is subject to change. Registered participants will receive more information on the confirmed meeting location prior to the workday.
When registering, volunteers will have the opportunity to select how far they would like to hike to plant trees. Attendees can participate for one or both days. Wear long pants, a long-sleeved shirt, sturdy boots, and a hat. Bring water, snacks, lunch, and work gloves. Tools will be provided by Bandelier. Pre-registration is required to volunteer for this project.
More information will be coming soon, but registration is open now!
