Way North: New Works by Alan Paine Radebaugh Sept.1-Oct. 31, 1918
April Price Projects gallery is pleased to announce a new exhibit featuring new landscapes by Alan Paine Radebaugh. These works are part of his ongoing Ghost of Sea project---paintings inspired by the strata and flora of North American Plains from southern New Mexico north to the Arctic Ocean. Fascinated with the geological history, he has been painting the Plains since 2008. He has driven one and two-lane roads winding through the United States and Canada.
He has sketched in the mountains and deserts of New Mexico; at the national grasslands in Nebraska, South Dakota, Oklahoma; in the still raw Canadian Rockies; on the slowly but ever-changing tundra of the Northwest Territories north of the Arctic Circle; and, many magical places in between. Driving, walking, and drawing for weeks on the road, he returns to his studio in Albuquerque to paint, intertwining sketches, memory and imagination. Rather than document a particular site, Radebaugh melds images from one place with those from another to create his impression of the North American Plains.
The gallery is located off the Hyatt Regency Lobby downtown Albuquerque. Hours are 11:00 TO 5:00 Tuesday-Saturday. Call for additional hours, 505.573.0895. Please join us for the opening reception, Saturday, September 8th 5-8PM.
