Every July, the Purple Adobe Lavender Farm in Abiquiu comes alive with its annual lavender festival. Come out and spend the day in the sunshine to celebrate lavender and the outdoors with great food, music, art, and lavender in every form imaginable. Stroll the beautiful farm grounds, visit the u-pick fields to cut your own lavender bundles, and just enjoy the lavender.
Cattle rustlers, dinosaur discoveries, dude ranch for the affluent, home to Georgia O’Keeffe—the history of Ghost Ranch is as colorful and dramatic as its landscape of red and yellow cliffs. Within the 21,000 acres of towering rock walls, vivid colors, and vast skies, guests can enjoy a variety of activities including workshops, hiking, horseback riding, ropes courses, and kayaking on Abiquiu Lake.
Head to Plaza Blanca and journey through the landscapes made famous by Georgia O’Keeffe. This 2.8-mile loop trail is suitable for all skill levels and offers hikers excellent views of the stunning landscape. Be sure to dress appropriately and bring plenty of water!
Take a tour of Georgia O’Keeffe’s historic adobe home and studio where she lived and worked in Abiquiu. Walk through the house and grounds that inspired more than two dozen paintings, watch an informational documentary of O’Keeffe’s homes, and get an insight into the vision and process of the legendary artist. Be mindful that tours must be booked in advance.
