USA TODAY is looking for the best small towns with populations under 10,000 (according to the latest census data) in the Southwest. After asking a panel of local experts to nominate their favorites Cloudcroft, Madrid and Taos are among the 20 that represent each state in the region. These 20 small towns are each travel-worthy for their beauty, culture, shopping, dining, entertainment and lodging options.
