Since 1985, Van tours and guide service for Los Alamos and northern New Mexico. Tours originate in Los Alamos. Lifetime resident highlights the story of Los Alamos from the volcanism that created the Jemez Mountains and the Pajarito Plateau, prehistoric folks who lived here, Spanish colonization, homesteading and ranching--all leading up to establishment of a secret project here during WW II for creation of the world's first atomic weaponry. The Manhattan Project is emphasized during the popular 1.5 hr. Atomic City Tour. Los Alamos National Laboratory and the town of Los Alamos now share this remote plateau with Bandelier National Monument and borders Santa Clara and San Ildefonso Pueblos. Bordering Los Alamos to the west is the Valles Caldera National Preserve and many other points of interest along the mountainous Jemez Trail National Scenic Byway. Just north are Abiquiu and Ghost Ranch. East is the "real New Mexico"--living Indian Pueblos and Spanish Villages. Special tours to these points of interest are offered by request.
