Adjacent from the Conchas Project Office and Visitor Center is the Overlook Day Use Area which includes picnic sites, a reservable group shelter, restroom facilities, playground, horse shoe pits, volley ball court, frisbee golf course, and a nature trail.The Corps of Engineers manages the South Recreation Area which includes a campground with primitive sites, a public boat ramp, day use area, restrooms, and large parking area. Camping is permitted at developed campgrounds. Limit is 14 days within a 30-day period. Pets are welcome, but must be leashed. Confine fires to grills or established pits only, and extinguish fires prior to departure. Deposit all trash and refuse in designated bins. Drive and park vehicles only on developed roads and parking areas. Loaded firearms, ammunition, explosives of any kind, archery equipment, etc, are prohibited. Destruction, injury, defacement, or removal of public property, including vegetation, natural and cultural resources is prohibited. Hiking is permitted on established paths and trails. The Corps of Engineers leases a portion of land to New Mexico State Parks which manages four campgrounds with primitive and full hook-up sites, restrooms with showers, and a dump station. A concessionaire manages a marina, convenience store, restaraunt, and lounge located on the North Recreation Area. *Remember to always wear your life vest near the water! Swim with a buddy and make sure friends and family are nearby to keep an eye out.
