Deming Arts Center
100 S. Gold Street Deming

Deming Arts Council has been housed in the historic building located at 100 S. Gold Street since 1989, when Kathrine “Kit” Tremaine purchased the building and presented it to the Arts Council. In May 1987 application was made to place the building on the New Mexico State Register of Cultural Properties. The registry form states that: “Two earlier buildings on this site burned. The present structure was built in 1904 as twin buildings, a grocery and a bank. The building has historically displayed the Romanesque front and side arches. This site housed a drug and clothing store beginning 1886. In 1902-1908 it was the Victoria Hotel. Building has been used in the past as a bank, offices, a pharmacy.” Presently it is the home of Deming Arts Council
