The Mineral Museum, located in the Workman Addition on the campus of New Mexico Tech, is a spectacular exhibit of glittering gold and silver, precious gems, fossils and over 2,000 specimens of minerals. Visitors are invited to view top-quality minerals found in New Mexico and the Southwest in the main gallery and to tour an exhibit of minerals that literally glow under ultra-violet light. Historic tools and equipment used in the mining industry throughout history are also on display. The Museum is open from 8am to 5pm Monday through Friday and 10am to 3pm Saturday and Sunday. Admission is free. Even if you don’t consider yourself a “rock” person, you will find this an intriguing place to spend a few hours.
