OFFCenter is a 501(c)3 community art space located in the heart of Albuquerque. The Downtown center offers a free Art Studio, a Gallery (with periodic open calls for art), a local-artist-centered Sales Shop, and a treasure-filled Thrift Shop. Everyone in the community is welcome to come to OFFCenter to make and buy art. Artists of low income are especially encouraged to make art in the studio, sell their work in the sales shop, and submit their work for display in the gallery. Individuals, families and groups participate in a wide variety of both casual open studios and organized activities. We believe in art making as central to community building. Shared creative expression leads to shared visions and the emergence of a compassionate common life. Two OFFCenter annual fundraising events reflect limitless originality and the diversity of the creative spirit in our city: the Albuquirky House Tour (including the Little House Auction at Sumner and Dene Gallery, on the same night as the Frank McCulloch Artist Reception), and the We Art the People Annual Folk Art Festival. OFFCenter also is a destination for Downtown Albuquerque ARTScrawls, and for special community celebrations.
