The Taos Chamber Music Group’s twenty-fifth concert series celebrates the diverse world of chamber music with a variety of programs that feature illustrious artists from around the country. From 18th century Venice to the most cutting edge compositions, TCMG’s 2017-18 series of "wild and scenic" performances promises to take audiences on an incomparable musical journey. In its signature style, TCMG will combine favorite by Bach, Beethoven, Brahms, Barber, Dvorak, Ravel and Saint-Saens with lesser known musical gems and contemporary compositions. Highlights include the return of the American String Quartet, an all women composers concert, the return of virtuoso pianist Gleb Ivanov in a French holiday time program, the TCMG debut by flute phenom and MacArthur “genius” Claire Chase, music inspired by the natural world, the annual “Play It Forward” program featuring 17-year-old violin prodigy Phoenix Avalon, and a grand finale by four “Cello Chicks!” Concerts take place in the Arthur Bell Auditorium at the Harwood Museum of Art where TCMG is the Resident Chamber Music Group. Performances begin at 5:30 p.m. You can make an evening of it and enjoy dinner out afterwards at one of our participating restaurants.
