Principals of Yogihiker\n\nThe underlying principal of hiking and yoga is simply being. Yes, there's movement, but the physical actions are simple, repetitive, even meditative. Yoga asks that you devote yourself fully to the moment, no matter how challenging a pose may be. To be fully present during practice is to stay with all of the sensations until it's time to come out of a pose. As in hiking, there may be a great distance between you and your destination, and there's only one way to get there. There's no avoiding climbing over boulders, no cutting through switchbacks, no jumping to the finish line. Being present means continuing down the trail, enjoying the journey as much as, if not more than, the promise of the destination.\n\n\nThe Yogihike Experience:\n\nWe meet at the trailhead at the Yogihiker sign ten minutes prior to our Yogihike departure time (8:00 AM Summer, 9:00 AM Fall and Spring). When we hit the trails and begin the hike, our clients are encouraged to observe the natural world: the smell of the air, the feel of the wind, the sound of the birds, the shifting shadows, and our ever-changing feelings of eagerness, happiness, pride, vulnerability, strength, exhaustion"”whatever arises. Depending upon the trail of the day, we stop where the optimum ground is available and begin our yoga practice. Adopting an attitude of curiosity is the first step to enjoying a practice out of doors. We encourage you to let go of your ideas about what your yoga practice should look or feel like, and see what you encounter as we lead you through poses that will balance the hiking for your muscles, meridians, and mind. We then continue the hike (typically a loop with new vistas), head back to the trail head, and enjoy a Yogihiker treat, refreshed and ready for the day ahead. The approximate duration of our Yogihike is 2 hours (with a minimum of 30 minutes of yoga and a maximum of 1.5 hours of hiking), however, we are known to "lose time" out there, and may occasionally run ten or fifteen minutes over. If you are on a tight schedule, please let us know. The trail of the day varies according to schedule and number of clients per hike - your confirmation will provide driving directions to the selected trail. All Yogihike trails are within 6 miles of the Plaza. \n\nWho can Yogihike? \n\n Anyone!
