In 1958, Lloyd Kiva New was alone at the top of the Native American fashion world. Six years earlier, he had become the first American Indian to participate in an international fashion show. His designs were featured in the Los Angeles Times, and in 1957, Miss Arizona wore one of his dresses at the Miss America Pageant.
