A Dyed-in-the-Wool Adventure:

The New Mexico Fiber Crawl

Pulling on a strand of handmade yarn begins to unravel the story of fiber arts in New Mexico.

WHETHER YOU QUILT, weave, felt, dye, knit, or are just interested in New Mexico’s long history with the fiber arts, the Española Valley Fiber Arts Center’s New Mexico Fiber Crawl is a fascinating way to experience the entire tradition.

Over the weekend, fiber arts fans can visit farms where the animals are raised, meet people who handspin the yarn and the artists who work with it, and visit the galleries and museums selling both the most traditional, and the most cutting-edge, work in the state.

Beginning in Albuquerque and winding north to Taos, the Crawl features one-on-one conversations with artists, exclusive access to gallery and museum collections, and hands-on demonstrations. There are also plenty of opportunities to buy goods directly from local producers and artists.
