Red RiverThe area is abound with beautiful trails that follow streams and rivers and have various levels of difficulty for hiking, mountain biking, and horseback riding. The Red River, as well as surrounding area lakes and streams offer a year-round challenge for fly-fishing enthusiasts looking for a genuine mountain experience. Head from Red River’s Main Street in any direction and access multiple forest trails for jeeps, OHV’s and motorcycles. Skiing, snowboarding, snowmobiling, cross country skiing, and snowshoeing are popular activities during the winter months. Red River averages over 200 inches of snow each year making it a winter recreation paradise. 

Red River FolkRed River is known throughout the region for the diversity of its' special events and live music scene. You can find chuckwagon dinner shows with entertainment by real cowboy singers or Micheal Martin Murphey. Murphey, or 3M as he is known around here, also has a western culture festival, American Westfest, in July. There is an annual songwriter's festival in January, Larry Joe Taylor's music festival in August, an Annual Bluegrass Festival in August and live music at multiple venues all year long. During the winter skiing is not the only attraction. Mardi Gras in the Mountains and Spring Break Beach Weeks bring bead tossin', bikini wearing folks from all over. The summer event season kicks off with Bacon & Brews and winds up with an annual Oktoberfest on Columbus Day weekend.
