The Hillsboro Historical Society

We collect, preserve and interpret the history of the Hillsboro, Kingston and Lake Valley areas of southern New Mexico, to promote understanding of our local heritage.

About Us

The Hillsboro Historical Society owns and manages the Black Range Museum and the old Sierra County Courthouse and Jail Site in Hillsboro, New Mexico.

We publish a quarterly Journal for our members: Guajolotes, Zopilotes y Paisanos.  Excerpted articles can be found on the Journal page of the website.

We are an all-volunteer run 501(c)3 non-profit organization established in 2008.  Membership, donors and our store at the Black Range Museum support our work.

The Board meets on the first Saturday of each month at 8:30 a.m. For more information about attending a Board meeting, contact us at hillsboronmhistorical@gmail.com

Volunteers Needed!

Meet interesting people and learn more about southern NM history.

We are a 100% volunteer-run organization and we always need new volunteers!   You may choose working in the Museum or helping on one of various committees. There is something for any time you have and your skills. We also consider interested people each year who can give time to our active Board of Directors.
