NMTPAS- New Mexico Tech Performing Arts Series

The New Mexico Tech Performing Arts Series (NMT PAS) aims to provide different types of fun and affordable performances in music, theater, dance, family shows, and arts activities that everyone in Socorro and around New Mexico can enjoy. Their goal is to include people from various backgrounds and make the arts accessible to all.

Every year, NMTPAS puts on about 10-12 shows. They also have four free concerts called the Presidential Chamber Music Series and one more free concert with the Santa Fe Opera Apprentices. NMTPAS also helps with various art and music programs in schools and the community.

This includes things like concerts and art workshops for kids in Socorro, Magdalena, and Alamo-Navajo Schools, a dance program with Socorro Consolidated Schools, an arts event before Valentine’s Day, a 4th of July celebration with music and fireworks, and a summer program with Missoula Children’s Theatre in partnership with Socorro Consolidated Schools and the City of Socorro.

One of the most awe inspiring aspect of the NMTPAS is the diversity it offers. The series includes range of performances like dance, music, theater alsong with visual art. Every season is curated with a range of genres and talents catering to entertainment of all age groups.

NMTPAS teams up with the NM Tech Club, a grown-up group that meets at Macey Center. They have friendly gatherings before PAS shows with tasty snacks and drinks. They also have extra events like Valentine’s and Opera Dinners for a small yearly fee. If you join, you get a free dinner and show at a meeting they have in the Fall.

NMTPAS teams up with the City of Socorro and many local organizations to help tourism and the town’s economy. Socorro is lucky to have a lovely and cozy theater called Macey Center. It has a fancy lobby and can host all sorts of meetings and special events. Socorro is also home to New Mexico Tech, which is a big deal in science and engineering. They have lots of top research groups like EMRTC, IRIS-PASSCAL, and more. There are also great things to see and do in Socorro, like a world-class golf course, a mineral museum, an observatory, and even a good childcare center.

PAS brings all world-class artists under one roof in the New Mexico Tech campus, enriching the cultural landscape of Socorro. Renowned actors, dancers, musicians, and artists of all genres grace the stage to provide an unforgettable experience for the audience.

We have some cool places around here, like the National Radio Astronomy Observatory, nature reserves like Bosque del Apache and Sevilleta, and a historic place called El Camino Real. There’s also a beautiful place called Quebradas Back Country, an old fort called Fort Craig, and some neat places like Water Canyon and San Miguel Church. We even have our own Socorro Community Theater, and the music scene here is lively.

Plus, we have great artists and art galleries, and plenty of tasty restaurants. If you head up Highway 60, you’ll find Historic Magdalena with more artists, lovely scenery, and an Old West vibe. If you ever get a chance to visit Socorro, New Mexico, do not miss a chance to be a part of the magical experience of New Mexico Tech Performing Arts Series. This celebration of performing arts will leave a lasting impression for lifelong.
