Tourism Department Seeks 11 Individuals to Advise on New Mexico Beautification Program

The New Mexico Tourism Department is seeking nominations for the eleven-member New Mexico Clean and Beautiful Advisory Committee (“Advisory Committee”). Previously known as the Litter Control Council, the emerging Advisory Committee will participate in the strategic planning, discussion, and execution of the Keep New Mexico True (KNMT) program and New Mexico Clean and Beautiful (NMCB) grant development.

All interested candidates should be knowledgeable in the areas of beautification, blight reduction, litter eradication, and waste diversion, but also have relative experience in tourism, economic development, and recycling initiatives. According to the New Mexico Litter Control and Beautification Act of 1985, NMSA 1978, Sections 67-16-1 to 67-16-14, no member can be an employee of the state. For additional qualifications and requirements, please refer to the Advisory Committee Call for Recommendations

The New Mexico Tourism Commission will appoint selected candidates this fall.  Appointees will be expected to provide input on the activities and programs funded by the NMCB grant and attend quarterly scheduled meetings, which may be held in various locations about the state. The Advisory Committee will commence with the first meeting in January 2018. During this time, members will engage in dialogue surrounding the specific roles and responsibilities of the Advisory Committee and elect one member to serve as Chair.

To be considered for the Advisory Committee, please send a brief cover letter expressing your interest in serving on the committee and a curriculum vitae (CV) or resume to victoria.romejko@state.nm.us by Friday, October 27, 2017. If recommending a candidate, be sure to include the nominee’s name and contact information.
