In recognition of Women’s Equality Day (August 26), the New Mexico Tourism Department extends our gratitude to women of tourism and hospitality.

A recent study by WalletHub compared the 50 states across three key dimensions: 1) Workplace Environment, 2) Education & Health and 3) Political Empowerment and determined New Mexico overall ranked No. 5 for Best States for Women’s Rights

New Mexico was ranked No. 1 in the key dimension of Workplace Environment, and ranked No. 1 in three subgroupings: Earnings Gap, Educational Attainment Gap (among Advanced Degree Holders), and Unemployment Gap. New Mexico ranked No. 2 in the Entrepreneurship Rate Gap and No. 3 in Executive Positions Gap.

Women of the New Mexico hospitality and tourism sectors help foster the vibrant and thriving industry we see today. From the executives and managers who run our hotels, resorts, destination marketing organizations and tourism businesses to the hospitality practitioners who deliver the visitor experience for guests to New Mexico all year, women are delivering success for New Mexico tourism.

The New Mexico Tourism Department is grateful for our continued work with you in growing New Mexico’s economy through tourism.
