SANTA FE — Visitor information centers operated by the New Mexico Tourism Department welcomed travelers from all 50 states and 108 countries in 2025.

An estimated 337,498 travelers visited one of the Tourism Department’s four visitor information centers in 2025, with about 4 percent of those travelers being international. Arizona represented the top domestic origin market and Canada represented the top international origin market.

Behind Arizona, the states of California, Texas, Oklahoma and Illinois round out the top five top domestic origin markets to NMTD visitor information centers in 2025. For international travelers, Canada is followed by Mexico, Germany, the United Kingdom and France for the top five countries of origin for NMTD visitor information centers.

“Knowing that folks from around the country and across the globe stopped by one of our visitor information centers in 2025 demonstrates that travelers are keen to learn more about the leisure travel experiences offered here in the Land of Enchantment, no matter the reason for their travel,” said Acting Cabinet Secretary Lancing Adams.

The Manuelito visitor information center on I-40 near the Arizona border witnessed the most visits of all four NMTD visitor information centers, welcoming over 61,000 travelers in 2025. The Glenrio visitor information center on I-40 near the Texas border welcomed over 47,000 travelers, the Lordsburg visitor information center welcomed an estimated 3,000 travelers, and the Santa Fe visitor information center welcomed just over 6,000 travelers.

“For many visitors who travel by vehicle, our state-operated visitor information centers are the first touchpoint these folks receive from the state,” said Marketing and Fulfillment Coordinator Toby Martinez. “We’re very grateful of the friendly and hardworking customer services representatives who staff our visitor information centers to ensure that every traveler who crosses into the Land of Enchantment receives a great first impression.”

NMTD recently completed a variety of improvements for its visitor information centers that modernize and improve the visitor experience. NMTD has installed interactive kiosks at each visitor information center that allows travelers to explore attractions, experiences and amenities in the area and build an itinerary that they can print or send to their email. NMTD also completed an extensive renovation of the Lordsburg visitor information center that included new landscaping, paint, lighting, storage and display units, and restrooms improvements.
