The results are in and six competitors have been selected to pitch their uniquely New Mexican story to a panel of local and national travel journalists for possible coverage. The selected submissions encompass great history and a modern day twist.

The six competitors are (in no particular order):

  • “Sacred Sites Bike Tour” submitted by Joshua and Heather Arnold, Routes Bicycle Tours & Rentals
  • “Birding Byway” submitted by Kimberly Allen, Pecos Business Association
  • “The Flamenco Capitol of the U.S.” submitted by Brenna Moore, Visit ABQ
  • “Aliens and Art in Roswell” submitted by Juanita Jennings, City of Roswell
  • “Alamogordo and Beyond” submitted by Michelle Brideaux, City of Alamogordo
  • “Secrets of Los Alamos” submitted by Kelly Stewart, Los Alamos County

On Tuesday, May 8at the Inn of the Mountain Gods in Mescalero during the Governor’s Conference on Tourism, each of the competitors will have a short window of time to capture the interest of writers and convince them their story idea is unique, timely and relevant.

Each of the six competitors is also invited to participate in an upcoming Texas media mission in June 2018, plus one overall winner will receive a free booth during Family Travel Showcase in Gallup next November (a $3000 value).

The Tourism Department invites all industry partners to join us at Governor’s Conference on Tourism and cheer on your peers. We would also like to thank everyone who submitted their ideas for Travel Tank 2.0. Congratulations and good luck to the competitors.
