Help us welcome Mary Robnet, Digital Coordinator for New Mexico Magazine. For the past ten years, Mary has worked in travel and lifestyle media. After earning a master’s degree from the University of Illinois at Chicago in photography, she was drawn to journalism. Mary was a photo editor and producer at Travel + Leisure and Fodor’s Travel in New York City before relocating to the Land of Enchantment. Santa Fe to be exact.

What do you like so far about working for the NM Tourism Department/New Mexico Magazine?
I am fascinated by the ways we document and view the world, and relish the opportunity to transport and inspire readers through visual storytelling.

What do you hope to accomplish for the tourism industry as a member of the NM True team? 
I hope to support local business by bringing the culture and beauty of the Land of Enchantment to readers all over the world. 

What is your favorite New Mexican dish?
Red chile anything. I love spicy food, and the complex earthiness of red chile is like no other. 

What is your favorite thing about New Mexico?
One of the things I love most about being in New Mexico is the strong sense of community and creativity. The incredibly rich history and natural beauty of New Mexico is a constant source of inspiration for me.

What are your hobbies?
There are few things I enjoy more than traveling. I’m driven by an innate curiosity about the world, and I love learning new things. I’m also an avid hiker and savor time spent outdoors.  

What sport would you compete in if you were in the Olympics?
I like to think I could become a great cross country skier. New Mexico is an excellent place to start training!
