Tristan Collar joins the New Mexico Tourism Department as the Commerce Analyst. A New Mexico native, Tristan grew up in Roswell and moved to Albuquerque to attend the University of New Mexico where he earned a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology and Master's in Business Administration. During his graduate career, Tristan worked at the Bureau of Business and Economic Research, and was an intern at the Center for Peace and Justice.

Q: What do you like about working for the Tourism Department?
A: I really like that the Tourism Department’s main goal is to help build the state while retaining the values that make New Mexico home. It’s nice to be a part of something that is meaningful and impactful.

Q: What do you hope to accomplish for the tourism industry as a member of Team True?
A: My main goal is to be a valuable team member committed to making our state the best it can be and a resource for tourism industry members.

Q: What is your favorite New Mexican dish?
A: Huevos Rancheros.

Q: What is your favorite thing about New Mexico?
A: I love the people, the food, and the landscapes.

Q: What are your hobbies?
A: In my free time I like to play soccer or tennis, ride my bike, paint and read.

Q: What sport would you compete in if you were in the Olympics?
A: Table tennis
