SANTA FE — New Mexico tourism businesses impacted by COVID-19 can now connect directly with tourism business councilors who will provide immediate and sustained support.

Through the partnership between the New Mexico Tourism Department (NMTD) and the Small Business Development Center (SBDC), tourism businesses can now connect with one of seven business councilors who will help business owners navigate financial aid options for their business, identify specialized training solutions and adjust to shifts in regulatory and competitive environments for long-term success.

“We’re grateful for our partnership with SBDC to bring to life this very valuable service that will support tourism businesses during this crisis," Cabinet Secretary Jen Paul Schroer said. "The Tourism Department is committed to providing support systems to tourism entities so business owners are equipped with the resources and knowledge to reopen in a safe and responsible way."

Tourism business councilors are available for consultation 9:00 am – 4:00 pm, Monday – Friday. Tourism business owners who wish to connect with a tourism business councilor can reach out by phone or online.

Tourism businesses in northern New Mexico can dial 505-300-2781 and tourism businesses in southern New Mexico can dial 575-800-0345 to speak with a tourism business councilor. Tourism businesses also have the option to submit inquiries and requests for support through this online form. A tourism business councilor from the SBDC will be responding directly to inquiries shortly after submission. More information is available at www.nmtourism.org.

The amended public health order that went into effect on June 1, 2020, permitted hotels and restaurants to operate at 50 percent maximum capacity and opened up other businesses such as salons, spas and indoor malls. Tourism businesses are asked to adhere to COVID-Safe Practices so New Mexico can continue to reopen in a safe and responsible way.
