The Pueblo of Nambé

This Pueblo is one of the Tewa-speaking Tribes in northern New Mexico and was settled in the earlier part of the 14^thcentury. The Pueblo has been historically known for its strong agriculture, traditional textiles, and pottery production.

Before You Go

Nambé Pueblo is a member of the Eight Northern Pueblos.

Nambé Pueblo is a popular stop for visitors seeking beauty and recreation in the stunning foothills of the Sangre de Cristo Mountains. Nambé Falls Recreation Area, located above the Pueblo, offers swimming, lake fishing, a stunning double-drop waterfall and camping for a modest fee. On October 4, the Pueblo honors San Francisco de Asís, also the patron saint of Santa Fe, for their annual Feast Day.

The Pueblo encompasses nearly 20,000 acres consisting of towering cottonwoods, juniper, scrub oak and an occasional outcropping of sandstone. The Rio Nambé, whose headwaters begin high in the mountains, 5 miles to the east of the reservation boundary, flows through the Pueblo and eventually feeds into the Rio Grande.
