We have been in business since 1944. Our hours of operation are 11 a.m. to 8 p.m Monday through Friday and 11 a.m. to 2:45 p.m. on Saturdays and closed on Sundays. The Buckhorn is closed for most Holidays. You can call our answering machine which will give you the exact dates for closing around holidays. Again, you can call 575-835-4423 and it will stated the exact days of operation and upcoming closures. We can not accommodate take-out orders on Fridays or Saturdays. If you're in a hurry, you might not want to stop as we are a small place with a small kitchen and everything is cooked fresh and nothing is pre-made, so it takes a little longer!! The Buckhorn has been featured New Mexico Magazine, Sunset Magazine and #1 Burger in the West, Saveur Magazine, and also in Everyday with Rachael Ray Magazine. In May, 2009 the “Green Chile Cheeseburger Duel” was on between Bobby Olguin and Bobby Flay….and the winner was…..Bobby Olguin’s Buckhorn Green Chile Cheeseburger. In honor of the event, New Mexico’s Governor, Bill Richardson, declared July 24, 2009 as the Buckhorn Tavern Day, proclaiming that the state’s revenue in green chile sales was way up for the year. The national publicity proved very beneficial for both the State’s main staple as well as for the Buckhorn Green Chile Cheeseburger.
