We at Duke City Repertory Theatre believe that the basis of our relationship with the audience is this: We will boldly create works of art that speak to our audience in an immediate way. We plan to serve this audience by both going to them and asking them to come to us. We are a theatre for all neighborhoods of our community. We aspire to all sorts of venues, including a permanent, resident theatre as a physical home, but we will never lose that which is foremost in our minds: Our theatre does not exist in bricks and mortar; it exists in that which can be shared between human beings who are participating in a theatrical event. Though it cannot be held in the hand, it is as tangible as the heartbeat. We understand a simple equation: The better the performance, the greater the likelihood that our audience has been better served, inspired, transformed. The pursuit of a greater, deeper, fuller shared experience between artists and audience is the very foundation upon which Duke City Repertory Theatre is built. We are on our way to achieving such a standard and then will go far beyond that, never ceasing to find new ways to serve every single audience member in every neighborhood of our community.
