Light Art Space is located in the Historic Arts and Cultural District of Silver City, New Mexico. The mission of Light Art Space is to provide an inclusive place of creative discovery for the community of Silver City and it’s visitors. We feature Art Exhibitions, Workshops, Lectures and other events. We are committed to exhibiting contemporary Fine Art Photography, Printmaking and other media with the serious collector in mind. The two galleries feature new exhibitions every other month.
Light Art Space is owned and directed by Karen Hymer, a visual artist and teacher from Tucson, Arizona. Karen earned her BFA from The School of the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston and Tufts University, Medford and her MA and MFA in Fine Art Photography from the University of New Mexico, Albuquerque.
Karen’s experience and technical interests are wide-ranging. Although “trained” as a photographer and educator, her approach to image making explores the blending of photosensitive materials, digital media, printmaking and encaustics. Beginning in the summer of 2019 she will be offering workshops in Photopolymer Gravure, Cyanotypes, Palladium over Pigment and more. Other visiting artists will teach additional printmaking and photographic techniques.
