Vermejo, a Ted Turner Reserve is a high-end seasonal outdoor recreation resort, located 40 miles west of Raton in the Sangre de Cristo mountain range. Located on the largest trek of privately owned property in the U.S., Vermejo has a National Park like setting with ranch-style accommodations and one of the best food experiences offered in northern New Mexico. Think bacon-wrapped bison tenderloin, duo of duck or five peppercorn seared elk chop. With 920 square miles to explore, outdoor activities are abound! Vermejo's Outdoor Exploration is unique to the area, showcasing the region's history through historic site tours- native encampments, adobe ruins and cowboy camps. Hiking, photography tours, land navigation courses, ecology project tours and horseback riding are also available. Our winter season brings ice fishing, snowshoeing, cooking courses and good old fashioned relaxation.
